August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012 -- The late and legendary Whitney Houston would have been 49 years old and well on her way to reviving her career. Losing Whitney was a devastating blow that saddened us all. Even with her troubled life, she was still heavily regarded as, “The Voice.”
At the time of Whitney’s untimely death, she was in the midst of strengthening her vocals. Clearly Houston was involved in the remake of the Motown-inspired flick, “Sparkle” and lit up the silver screen.
We will get to see the “I Will Always Love You” singer in her last role when “Sparkle” comes out on August 17th.

Timbaland Not Happy With Drake Producing Aaliyah’s Album

Recent news broke that Drake would be involved in the posthumous record from Aaliyah and there is one producer who is not too happy with this news.
Timbaland feels a bit confused as to why he has not been asked to be a part of the projectand is also wondering why he was never told this project was going to take place from the get go.
Drake is set to executive produce a posthumous album from the late Aaliyah. But,Timbaland had a few thoughts about the whole situation, in a recent interview with Power 105.1′s The Breakfast Club.
We all know how close Timbaland was to Aaliyah so it comes as no surprise that he was not too happy with the news of Drake’s involvement on the record. Timbo thinks that if Drake wants to move forward with the Aaliyah record, then out of respect he needs to get him and Missy Elliott involved, as they were two of Aaliyah’s most frequent collaborators.
“I know they trying to drop some Aaliyah records, but if [Drake] do it, it should be with me and him, and Missy,” he said.
“I don’t know what’s going on. The proper way to do that would be for me, him and Missy to be all on the record. For it to be on his record, that would not be right.”
Drake is set to debut his single with the late singer at the OVO Festival this weekend in Toronto.

Eminem Hits The Studio With Lady Gaga, What!?

Fans were recently surprised when news of Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar hit the web, but fans will be left speechless once they learn who else she has hit the studio with.
Hip Hops most exciting lyricistEminem has revealed that he has already collaborated with Gaga and will be releasing the song on his new upcoming album.
Lady Gaga also posted a TwitPic of herself with new rapper Kendrick Lamar in the studio together. But I think people are actually shocked to learn that she will be featured in Eminem new song, titled ‘Street Lights’.
Eminem spoke with MTV RapFix on the subject, “Yeah, I got this crazy record with Gaga and Kendrick for the upcoming LP. Its called ‘Street Lights’, and its just a real upbeat record.”
The song will actually be on  Em’s next album, rather than the ARTPOP album Lady Gaga announced a couple of days back. The single will be released “after Slaughterhouse’salbum”, who is part of Shady 2.0.
funny thing about this whole ordeal is that Eminem once called Gaga “a male lady” on  one of his old tracks “A Kiss” from his collaboration with Royce Da 5’9′ as Bad Meets Evil. I must be the first to admit I never saw this one coming!

Dr. Dre Closes Deal With FX For New Show

Dr. Dre and FX have sealed the deal as it is reported that Dre will co-executive produce a TV show that focuses on the music industry and crime business.
After what seemed like “secret” negotiations Dre has announced that he has sold a script to FX for an upcoming one-hour music/crime drama.
Deadline revealed that, Sidney Quashie penned the script for the show, which “explores present day Los Angeles through the lenses of the music business and the crime business.” Ther are very few details about the show, but they will be revealed in due time.
Dre has long been promising a new album that has quickly gained mythical status. However, the doc is still getting his money with headphones and other ventures, so many know by know that he is in no rush to complete the album as money is not an issue. Dre will executive produce the show alongside Daniel Schnider, Brad Bertner is set to co-executive produce.
Dre launched Crucial Films in 2007 at New Line Cinema with video director Phillip Atwell.

Ice Cube Talks New Album & 'Last Friday' Movie

Ice Cube who was performing live from Irving Plaza in NYC, speaks on his new album 'Everything's Corrupt,' his upcoming movie 'Last Friday,' and the new west coast movement.

Ice Cube has been out of the music game for a while bu that does not mean he isn’t hard at work. The OG rapper claims that the new album he is putting together will appease many fans as it is “Hip Hop for the soul.”
In a recent interview with Red Bull USA, Ice Cube said that his new LP will be “Hip Hop for the soul,” he made it a point to explain that he’s focusing on more than just rhyming and instead making an album with actual meaning.
“I’m pretty deep into it, I’m about 65 percent finished with it. It’ll be out next year, you know, and it’s hardcore Hip Hop,” he said.
“It’s street knowledge, it’s talking about what’s going on in the hood, but it’s talking about what’s going on in the political arena. It’s what I always try to give. Much more than just rhyming. Mostly, it’s Hip Hop for the soul. That’s what I’m trying to deliver.”
Ice Cube also touched base on his upcoming Friday film, saying that the script is very close to being done.
“The script is almost finished, I got a meeting with New Line on Monday or Tuesday, to talk about the next step,” he said.
“You gotta get that script tight before you can take the next step. It’s beautiful because the West Coast, we’ve always been trying to prove ourselves to the Hip Hop nation, that we was much more than bitches, hoes, gangstas, guns… We’ve been trying to show that we’re very creative on the West Coast, but we got caught in a style that worked, a formula that worked, and it kind of got oversaturated in a way. But the dudes on the West are showing how creative they are. It’s good that the hip Hop community is starting to acknowledge it and getting their shine, and that’s a beautiful thing.”
Ice cube is a highly respected veteran of the rap game, but more than anything he is one of the few artists that has been able to have a successful transition into acting.

“Banned from NBA” – APL and Adam Goldston

Adam Goldston is what it means to be a true golden boy. He is an athlete, inventor, innovator and a role model. Goldston and his twin brother Ryan reside in Los Angels California and double handedly built a shoe empire. These two twins were walk ons to their college basketball team and developed a passion and drive to change the game. In 2009 they held onto their passion and love of basketball to create Athletic Propulsion Labs, better known as APL. Located in Los Angeles California.

With APL they created a shoe called the Concept 1 which was designed to instantly increase one’s vertical leap. As amazing as this shoe was, after much debate the NBA decided to ban all players in the league from wearing their shoes. This inspired Adam and his brother to use what they could have seen as a problem, as advertisement. They took this potential negative and turned it into a positive. The twins used “Banned by the NBA” in their product advertising andpromotion. This slogan now graces APL’s homepage. “In terms of marketing, this is probably the greatest thing that could have happened to our company, because it basically blew us up overnight,” said Adam. Since the Concept 1, they have  released the Concours (their second shoe), and the highly anticipated sequel to the Concept 1, the Concept 2.
Over the past few years APL has blown up. The company’s value increases daily and this year has been full of even moresuccess for the Goldston twins. Adam and his brother Ryan were named to the Empact100 list of America’s top young entrepreneurs. With this came the opportunity to be recognized at the White House in Washington D.C. on November 17, 2011. The twins were also given the opportunity to have a pop up shop at Saks Fifth Avenue this winter that according to Adam was “A success and a great opportunity to display our brand in front of a new demographic.” Adam is very private about things that go on behind the scenes of his business ventures.
Although Adam is a very busy businessman, he finds time to workout every day. Each day is different and some days he trains for a minimum of 50 minutes while others it can be up to 2.5 hours. He works hard no matter how long he is in the gym and hardly ever misses a day. A typical workout for Adam consists of targeting a specific muscle group, never a full body workout.
He keeps it healthy with his diet too. Some days he eats anywhere from 18-20 egg whites! Yes 20! And in a typical day he eats lean meats consisting of chicken, turkey, bison, and steak. He also eats his vegetables, grazing on sweet potato, lettuce, corn, quinoa, and avocado. He enjoys his cheese, wheat bread and corn bread while also supplementing his meals with protein powder.
We’ve got to give these guys props for creating a great shoe and living healthy active lifestyles!

Meek Mill Blamed For Hitting Breezy With A Bottle, Hospital Photos Of Chris Brown’s Security Guard Leak - 2 FIGHT VIDEOS INSIDE

Okay, so now people are coming forward and saying that Meek Mill is the person who started the whole fight between Chris Brown and Drake last night, AND that Meek Mill is actually the one who hit Breezy with a bottle and NOT Drake. According to a source at TMZ, Meek Mill started the whole thing when he began screaming at Chris Brown from Drake’s table. The two allegedly engaged in a screaming match and were arguing back and forth with each other. The source says that the argument was NOT about Rihanna, but ended up getting out of hand and that’s when Meek Mill allegedly hit Breezy with a bottle.
Drake’s rep also released a statement to TMZ saying that Drake had no involvement in last night’s fight.
“Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began.”
The rep adds, “[Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property.”
A photo of Chris Brown’s security guard at the hospital after the fight was also leaked today and dude looks like he really got hurt. Sources say that Breezy’s security guard, who goes by Big Pat, was practically “scalped.”

In the video below there is some footage from after the fight

Was Manny Pacquiao Robbed Of His Title Last Night?

Last night undisputed boxing champ Manny Pacquiao took the ring against Timothy Bradley. A good show was indeed expected, but the outcome of the fight was not.
The scorecards of the judges simply weren't matching up to the effort that Pacquiao was putting in inside the ring.
After 12 intense rounds, judges announced Timothy Bradley as the champion, trumping Pacquio's 7-year run as an undefeated fighter. The announcement erupted the crowd at the MGM Grand arena into a fury of boos and visually stunned Pacquiao.
The fight promoter Bob Arum said there would be a November rematch, though he blasted the way the decision went down.
"I've never been as ashamed of the sport of boxing as I am tonight," said Arum, who handles both fighters.
Bradley came on strong in the later rounds, winning five of the last six rounds on two scorecards and four on the third. He won 115-113 on two scorecards, while losing on the third by the same margin. The Associated Press had Pacquiao winning 117-111.
"I did my best," Pacquiao said. "I guess my best wasn't good enough."
Shortly after the announcement, fans of Pacquio took to social networking sites to blast the decision claiming that the champ was robbed of his belt.
As for his opponent, Bradley spoke after the fight saying: "I thought I won the fight," Bradley said. "I didn't think he was as good as everyone says he was. I didn't feel his power."
But Bob Arum claims that mid-fight, Bradley spoke differently saying:” I went over to Bradley before the decision and he said, `I tried hard but I couldn't beat the guy.'"
Oh the politics of boxing. Do you believe Bradley deserved the belt? Sound off in the comments section below.

"I've been waiting 12 years to say this -- ladies and gentlemen, D'Angelo!"
That's how Questlove introduced his dear friend to the stage at the Bonnaroo Festival earlier today.
And yes it has been 12 years since the singer has appeared on a stage in the United States of America!

After D'Angelo wrapped his set Questlove revealed to the roaring fans that it all came together during a six-hour rehearsal period on Saturday.
The "Brown Sugar' singer has been emerging back into the spotlight. He recently showed us he still got it, in an interview and spread in GQ magazine.

He definitely hasn't lost his touch. Hopefully we hear some new jams soon

He Said What? Chris Rock Calls Obama...

Comedians say the darndest things, which is why Chris Rock is in some hot water after calling Barack Obama our “Zebra President.”
Rock, out promoting his new film Madagascar 3, in which he serves as the voice to an animated zebra, said that the similarity between the cross-colored animal and the President was for obvious reasons: they are both half black and half white.
Rock said:
"I wanted to be the lion, you know, king of the jungle and all that, but that didn’t work out…Snake is always good. You know, scare people. Ssss. But I’ll take the zebra.
In honor of our zebra president. Black and white, white and black.…I love our president, but he’s black and white. He appeals to all. And that’s what I am going for."
Rock then said that most African Americans ignore Obama’s whiteness, and consider him to be a black president.
Rock has a point. Obama is referred to as the black President, but we don’t think Chris’ joke was that bad.

A Face-Chewing Naked Man & The Sickest Stories Of 2012 So Far! (LIST)

31-year-old homeless man Rudy Eugene's disturbing tale just shot to the top of our list as one of the sickest and craziest stories of 2012 thus far.
On Saturday, Eugene, while high on LSD, was shot and killed by Miami Police after he was discovered eating the face of another man. Rescue crews rushed the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital with 75 percent of his face missing, including an eye, his ears and lips.
A Miami police officer shot and killed Eugene when he did not obey commands to stop feasting on his victim.
The story has become international news, while Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets have made it one of the most shared stories in the past 72 hours. Many are calling it the “Walking Dead of Miami.”
Eugene’s story is no doubt insane, but as we come to the half point of the year, where does it rank as the craziest story of 2012 so far?

The N*gga Blog By Russell Simmons

One word. One word that can cause pleasure and pain at the same time. Probably the most controversial word in the history of the English language. Let's explore this word...
Let me start with how it was created. In the slave fields, this word was used liberally. Slave masters loved this word. No pleasure behind the meaning. All pain. But, less than a hundred and fifty years after slavery ended, for some the word has become a term of endearment. The evolution of the word is kind of like the history of black people's relationship with chitlins and pig's feet. While the white slave masters feasted on the belly of pig, we got stuck with the feet and the guts. We took the trash and turned it into a delicacy, that was our genius. Not the food, but the ingenuity that refined it. 'Cause I'm sure most you already know, I definitely don't want to celebrate the belly or the feet of the pig (I'm a vegan), I just want to celebrate the creativity of black people.
Similarly, the experience with the word is arguably part of our genius. We were able to take a vicious, racist term and make it a term of endearment. What up my... That's my... You my... or just simply, My.... We took control of something that was used for so much hate and made it love.
I know that there are a lot of people who are still offended by this word, white and black. It might mean something different to you than it does to me. Sometimes people say the word and we think they don't have the right to say it. It is true, passes aren't easy to get, especially for those who don't have a direct bloodline to slavery; we certainly don't hand them out too often.
Don't be mistaken, just because we have turned our pain into pleasure doesn't mean the word isn't sensitive for all of us. Outside of the safe confines of the hip-hop community, racism is alive and well. And yes, it is easy to get caught up in other people's pain. But, if we focus on how we got to this place of genuineness instead of the mud the pigs play in, then we all might be able to get off the plantation.

Ice Cube Says The New "Friday" Movie Is "Really About Chris Tucker" Read more:

Ice Cube is a man of many talents.
From making it out of the hood in Compton to gracing the silver screen in Hollywood, Ice Cube has hustled his way to a better life.
Now, Ice Cube has teamed up with DJ Khaled and DJ Drama to embark on a search to find the Coors Light Coldest MC.
GlobalGrind caught up with Ice Cube to talk about the state of hip-hop, his current favorite rappers and of course, we wanted all the juice about a new Friday movie starring Chris Tucker.
Check out our exclusive interview below!
GlobalGrind: So you DJ Khaled and DJ Drama are all looking for the coldest MC?
Ice Cube: Yeah, we’re looking for MCs, real lyrics, not just hooky hooky jingles. We’re looking for somebody who’s cold and who’s fly. It’s cool that Coors Light stepped up to the plate to help us really search for this new MC.
What qualities do you look for in a MC?
It’s got to be lyrics and delivery. It’s got to be a clever use of the language that we've all heard. How can you present what we like in a different package? That’s always interesting for the new MCs to master, because that’s what people like. If you really break it down, people been talking about pretty much similar topics in hip-hop. It’s all about the presentation, so then you go to delivery. Do you have the delivery, the voice that is captivating, and the confidence? Last is really the look and aura. Do you feel like this is an MC, or do you feel like this is somebody that is trying to rap?
What are your thoughts on the current state of hip-hop?
If you just really looking for the mainstream to deliver your hip-hop all you going to see is pop-hop, which is cool. It works for certain people and the radio loves it and obviously somebody is listening to it because it keeps going back to it. But you got to be a real hip-hop fan nowadays. You got to dig deep. You got to really go search for the great and the good people if you’re really digging that deep. So, if you’re a surface dweller as far as hip-hop, you’re going to just get all the stuff that they want to feed you. It’s a treasure hunt right now.
Who are some of the new artists you like?
Oh, there's a few people out there doing their thing. I like the music Drake do. I think a lot of his stuff bang. Kanye West is always interesting. Lil Wayne does his thing and it’s cool. Everybody got their lane and they really pushing at it. As far as like the new, new up-and-coming, underground groups—I'm  kind of biased because I’m really trying to get my sons to a status where they can drop a record.
Is the N.W.A. biopic still in the works?
Oh, yeah. Got Gary Gray directing the movie, and we're moving full steam ahead. We got the first draft of a script that was good. Now we want to make it great, so we’re working on a second draft. I’m excited about that project.
Have you guys started to figure out who’s going to play whom?
Nah. That comes after we get the script right. You don’t want to count your chickens before they hatch. It’s a process.
Is there anyone in particular you want to play yourself or Dre?
I want my son to play me. He looks like me. He definitely can rap like me if he wants to. I think he got the chops to act like me. That’s my dream. But, he still has to land the part. I want to do justice to the legacy of N.W.A., so I’m not going to be blinded by any kind of nepotism or favoritism or nothing like that.
What about Friday? There were talks that you were working on a script.
Yep, saw Mike Epps yesterday.
He’s so crazy!
Yeah, he’s a fool for real.
Is Chris Tucker getting back on board?
I hope so. I got a part written in for him. It’s really about Chris. I’m not going to beg him to be in the movie, but I’m going to ask him…twice. (laughs) And hopefully he’ll do it. We’re trying to make a deal. That’s what the fans want. I want to give the fans what they want, but with or without Chris, we’re going to make you laugh. It’s a funny movie. It’s a lot of funny, new characters that pop in, mixed with a lot of the characters that we’ve known over the three movies. It’s crazy and it’s back to the basics.
Are you working on new music?
I’m working on an album called Everything’s Corrupt. It’s that West Coast hip-hop that people expect from me.
